A woman allegedly stabbed a young boy with a
broken beer bottle, gouging his eyes before
committing suicide. Police have launched an
investigation into the reported attack which
happened when the 12-year-old child was
watching over his parent's shop. Wang Hsu was
a neighbour of the family in China's Jilin
Province who had a long-standing land dispute
with the boy, Zhu's, family. People's Daily Online
reports
According to the injured Zhu, Wang entered the
store one morning at 6am and bought a bottle
of beer. She then reportedly told the boy she
wanted an ice-cream from the fridge behind
him. When he turned to get it, the woman
allegedly smashed the bottle over his head and
began attacking him with the broken glass.
Police say that both of Zhu's eyes were gouged,
and it's alleged that the woman subsequently set
fire to the premises and killed herself with
pesticide when she thought the boy was dead.
Zhu's parents rushed to the store when they
saw thick, black smoke rising above the
building. They reportedly found Zhu lying on
the ground several metres from the store with
his horrific facial injuries.
Zhu said that he climbed out of the store blind
after he heard the attacker smashing gas
canisters and smelt the smoke. After being
rushed to hospital, doctors removed Zhu's right
eye to prevent infection; his left eye was also
seriously damaged during the attack and doctors
are not sure whether he will be able to see
again.
Local police are investigating the case.
